Amsterdam canal house at dusk
The Netherlands — By Invitation

A quieter kind of luxury, kept behind unmarked doors.

Fourteen private residences and estates, each chosen for its restraint rather than its size.

De Reeks was never meant to be a public list. It began as notes passed between a handful of travelers who preferred a canal house with no sign over a hotel with five stars on the door.

Today the selection has grown to fourteen properties, but the criteria have not changed. Each is visited, twice, before it is considered — once in high season, once in the quiet months that reveal whether a place is truly well run or simply well photographed. Most of what we see does not make the list.
